The Happy Health Market opened its doors in downtown Reykjavik last week on Skólastræti 1. The market is the city’s first open air market and will be open every weekend throughout the summer.
In a country where the summer temperature rarely gets above 14 degrees celcius, its no surprise that the outdoor market was a while in coming. Local residents can now enjoy shopping in the fresh air while the sunshine lasts and take advantage of all of the city’s best produce and healthy food options gathered together in one area.
Stalls sell products such as fresh flowers, organic fruits and vegetables, Icelandic herbs and pungent spices. The market includes clothing stalls and hand-made jewelry.
In addition to shopping, street performers wander through the stalls, piping music amongst the crowds. There is even a fortune teller available to help guide people through the week, find lost love or decide what to take home for dinner that night.
The market is open on Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer from noon until 18:00.
