Iceland Express will begin flying to Barcelona twice a week during the winter starting on November 9th. Tickets for the new flights, which will continue until the end of May 2008, will go on sale this Friday.
A statement released by the airline quoted CEO Matthías Imsland as saying, “Barcelona is an exciting addition to our destinations and it is pleasing to be able to offer Icelanders competition in flights to this unique city.”
Iceland Express is celebrating the new route by offering the first passengers to book flights a discount on tickets. One way tickets for travel in November are going on sale for only ISK 3,895 (USD$59), including all taxes and surcharges.
The airline will not operate the flights to Spain from mid December until February 1st.
Iceland Express is based in Iceland and flies from Keflavik International Airport. The airline flies to 14 destinations in Europe including daily flights to London and Copenhagen. The first Iceland Express flight took off from Keflavik in 2002.
