The headquarters of Glitnir Bank in Reykjavik were lit up with a pink light this week to raise awareness for breast cancer.
October is a breast cancer awareness month and many companies and public organisations are reminding people of the importance of regular breast cancer check-ups by incoprorating the colour pink into their image. The national hospital and the President‘s residence were also illuminated in pink, and many taxis have replaced their yellow signs with pink ones.
Glitnir supports the Icelandic and Danish Cancer Societies by raising money for breast cancer research. In August the Glitnir Reykjavík Marathon raised ISK 1.4 million (USD 23,000, EUR 16,000) for charity and in May Glitnir donated over DKK 400,000 (USD 76,000, EUR 54,000) to the Danish Cancer Society under the Copenhagen Marathon theme ‘Race Against Cancer’.
