Icelandic international Gylfi Einarsson is currently participating in training with Barnsley Football Club in Oakwell after being invited by manager Simon Davey.
The midfielder played for Leeds United until the end of last season. After two and a half years with the club, he was released and has yet to sign an agreement with another club.
Davey released a statement on the club’s official website saying: “We have Icelandic international Gylfi Einarsson training with us at the moment and it is an arrangement that suits both parties well. Gylfi was paid up by Leeds United at the end of last season and still lives in the area. He has a place to train and keep fit while we can have a look at him and see what he can do.”
Prior to playing for Leeds, Einarsson played for Norwegian club Lillestrom beginning in 2005. To date he has been capped by his country seven times.
