The Icelandic football defender Gretar Steinsson from AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands is anticipating his upcoming transfer to Bolton Wanderers, reports SkySports.com.
The two clubs have reached an agreement of 6.85 million euros for the transfer and Steinsson is expected to make the move before the transfer window closes.
“This is a great opportunity,” Steinsson said. “Five years ago I came here on trial, but I was not good enough; now it seems I am.”
Steinsson is expected to agree to a three-year contract with the added possibility of 12 months more.
Much to his delight, Steinsson was recommended by the legendary Bolton player Gudni Bergsson.
“It is a wonderful club where many Icelanders have played,” Steinsson said.
