The Sweden and Internazionale player Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the first footballer to be awarded as Swedish Sports Personality of the Year, reports Goal.com.
Ibrahimovic won 31% of the vote for Swedish Sports Personality of the Year, as the public chose from a shortlist of ten athletes. Susanna Kallur came in a close second.
“I wish to thank everyone who voted for me,” the ex-Juventus player said. “I am surprised and honoured, and because this prize is decided by the Swedish people, it even tops winning the Guldbollen.”
Ibrahimovic received the Guldbollen trophy last year, naming the forward as Swedish footballer of the year. He was recently a key player in Sweden’s qualification for the 2008 European Championships.
Ibrahimovic has been capped 49 times for his country, netting 18 goals.
