Bjorgvin Sigurdsson, the Icelandic Minister of Commerce has stepped down. The minister has decided to take responsibility for his part of the economic and political turmoil now enveloping Iceland, his last act as a minister was to fire the head of the Icelandic financial supervisory authority.
As he introduced this decision to the FSA chairman, Jon Sigurdsson, the chairman himself decided to resign. Bjorgvin announced his decision in letter sent to the Prime Minister of Iceland, Geir H. Haarde, this morning.
More to follow
Only political strategy; young crew member decides to abandon ship; this one is sunk with old troops.
Björgvin is an intelligent man; I would say … he is a CLEVER man, hungry for power, astute and ambitious, and he is young: he is as sharp as a needle.
He would look for a chair in new order.
If Iceland was not in darkness these days, perhaps he – Björgvin – filled the position left vacant when Mr. Haarde retired.
AXEL “I think Björgvin was never in the innest circle, the fact that he never knew what was going on and seems to have been more or less kept in the dark by the FME and CB points to that direction,
Its good to see that we have a politician that has respect for the nation and democracy,”
IF IT WAS SOMEONE KNOWING WHAT WAS REALLY GOING ON IT WAS HIM!! HE IS JUST TRYING TO SAVE HIS ASS, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!
ICELAND IS A BANANA REPUBLIC TODAY. WELCOME TO POVERTY. THOSE PUNCHS OF CRIMINALS, NOW THEY RUINED A WHOLE NATION AND NOW THEY JUST SAY “SORRY, I DID NOT MEAN TO” HAHAHAHAHAH, PUNCH OF RIDICULOUS, SHAMELESS CLOWNS!!! WHAT A CROWD OF BASTARDS!! THEY SHOULD GET CONFISCATED EVERYTHING THEY HAVE. AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET ANY PAYMENTS FROM THE STATE. AND THEY SHOULD BE PUT IN JAIL, LOCK THE DOOR AND THROW THE KEY TO THE OCEAN!! THEN THEY WOULD GET FOOD DOWN THE DOOR AND A CABLE OR TIE SO THEY COULD HANG THEMSELVES IN CASE THEY COME UP TO HAVE SOME CONSCIENCE.
The resignation is part of the general election campaign. Bjorgvin has sacked the FME (popular)and argued ministers should take rightful blame (Independence party has been around for 11 years in power). Funny that he manged to do this when an election date has been given. The Social Democratic alliance is preparing the ground for an election (Earlier than May, whilst Geir is still in charge). The Independence party can only go one better by sacking the Hd of the Central Bank, calling for elections at the end of March after a quick party conference.
Here in Iceland, I spent allmost 9 years.
Iceland has been so great nation with a civilized society.THESE LEADERS MADE ME THINK AS IF I AM IN ZIMBUABWE OR ETHIOPIA /leaders who want to stay in power with thier crime/dirt.
GOD BLESS ICELAND !!!!
I think Björgvin was never in the innest circle, the fact that he never knew what was going on and seems to have been more or less kept in the dark by the FME and CB points to that direction,

This event at this time is very important, all we need is a powerfull demonstration outside the central bank to push this government over the edge and rid our selfs of the mastermind or ididot behind this whole mess David Oddson.
It is very important to stop the sale of KB Lux
and investigate the banks carefully, retrieve lost or stolen funds, i will be surprized if this government survives next week.
Now the Indepenece party needs to fire David or be ruined for good.
>Don’t forget that stepping down means another crook will step into his position because oddson and many more crooks lickin’ his @ss will appoint a new S.O.B to act the holly person to cover clean up his mess. This is getting more interesting and evolving into some unforeseen political mafia.
>Haarde should also step down followed by oddson and the rest of the clowns involved in messing up the Icelandic economy.
>They should be honest with themselves, they’ve got nothing more to offer, most of them have various prognosis, but the bottom line still remains that they’ve failed as politicians.
>Bjorgvin Sigurdarson is not as old as Haarde, and he agreed to take the stepping down as part of his political responsibility.
> his last act as a minister was to fire the head of the Icelandic financial supervisory authority, and Jon Sigursson, the chairman of the Financial Supervisory authority ( FSA) also agreed to resign, they’ve seen that it’s ” game over” and it’s time to get the F@@k out.
Enough is enough!!
plus, he steps down, who is going to apoint a new one? you think we are going to vote a new one tomorrow, they will apont another one that will keep working for them, People dont let the exitement take this actions as achivements, this are just political moves to calm down the people, its very easy, “look you have to step down and hey you, you have to step up, dont worry this is just to calm the people, this (the new apointed by them) will keep protecting your ass” it is as simple as that, as long as the PM and his ministers dont go away ist is them that will kep on puting and removeing people.
yes 4 months later and the others want another 4, in four months offcourse you find somebody to cover up your sh*t, and with 4 months more you can leave the right people to keep ruling from behind the scenes for a while to protect your ass long enough, they know of the full blow that is coming to the economy and want to step down before so people can blame others, let them step down but let the authorities to keep an exact record of where they are and where they go, with the money they stole, and help steel, they would be ready to fly away and never look back.
