In an answer from the British PM office it’s said that Mr. Brown was referring to the agreement between the Icelandic Government and the IMF in regards of the Icesave accounts. In Gordon’s response it’s said that the British Government celebrated Iceland’s agreement with the IMF and that the Icelandic government said they would be paying British Icesavers back.
The two governments have not reached a final conclusion on how this is to be done. The British Government recognised local responsibility in regards of the Icelandic owned British bank Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander.
Local media RUV.is reports
Siggi, you misunderstand the purpose of Prime Minister’s Question time. It is not to inform, it is to enable the Leader of the Opposition and his friends to try to embarrass the Prime Minister.
In this case Gordon Brown was ambushed by a question about the Christie Hospital and I expect Mr Brown half-remembered that Kaupþing has something to do with Icelandic banks, but forgot that Kaupþing Singer and Friedlander is in fact a British Bank, and mentally lumped them all together with IceSave. So he said some rubbish about Iceland and the IMF in connection with KSF when he shouldn’t have done. Don’t worry, that sort of carelessness happens all the time in British politics.
This is par for the course with Mr Brown and Westminster politicians in general. Things are never their fault, they never have to say they are sorry, and as for Jacqui Smith (Home Secretary) trying to claim for naughty videos that her husband watched on their television – well, that’s all the fault of the expenses system which just encourages poor innocent MPs to rip off the taxpayer for as much as they can get away with.
And Truth – you may turn out to be correct in your assessment of Britain’s credit-worthiness. The references to London being Reykjavík-on-Thames may turn out to be not entirely in jest.
This guy is totally clueless, sorry for my UK friends, but he lies through his teeths, and not for the first time as that “someone” said, we have to get thing’s straigt, this is unacceptable having peeps doing this PR thing. Facts need to brought to light.
Word on the street is the UK is bankrupt, thanks to Mr. Brown screwing the pooch again!!!
