The Eurovision team led by Johanna (Yohanna) Gudrun got a warm welcome in Reykjavik this afternoon when arriving from Moscow after taking the second place in the Eurovision contest. Central Reykjavik was crowded by fans wanting to congratulate the young singer.
Johanna was joined onstage by her backing singers and the rest of the Eurovision team. The ‘festival’ was led by Iceland’s foremost Eurovision expert and former participator, Pall Oskar, who welcomed Johanna onstage to perform her song to a crowd of thousands.
The event was helped by the fact that today enjoyed Reykjavik’s best weather so far this year, with temperatures of 20 degrees celsius.
How I can get acquainted with Johanna??? Prompt please! Timur (Russia).

A beautiful Icelandic Princess with a great song.

With love from Germany!
Antony.
There is a new law in Parliament.
In short – tourists from countries voted for Iceland with 8-12 points get discount for all services – 25%
Tourist from countries between 7-5 points are allowed to visit Iceland as usual.
Tourist from countries between 4-1 points – no discount and no service at all except drop/pick up service somewhere in Highlands (where tourist are by themselves all time of stay)
Tourist from other countries are banned to come at all.
No kidding :-)
Hard times requires hard measures you know ….
Congratulations, Iceland! Yohanna is the queen!
Best regards from Moscow ;)
Johanna was just GREAT and deserved to win the 1st place!!! Both the song and presentation were perfect! I really wanted the ESC2010 to take place in Reykjavik, as I know how much the Icelanders want it…Hopefully next year…
Best regards from Greece:o)
You go girl! We need more Jóhanna like you during these times of kreppa. Let´s find another one for president!
???????, ?????.

Well done to Johanna for her great performance in the song contest. She did Iceland proud and I’m sure she will have a very bright future.

Hi, just reviewed from afar the Eurovision 2009, and you did very well. that all from me.
*Correction
Lindir owns one of this companies that “submited” a bid to explore so we are actually bidding ourselves, could it be that they are hopeing fore somebody to take the bait? casually the bids are on the lotes that norway has no priority, hmmm!!
Still the point of the previos post remains the same.
yes, jeepy, jeepy Johanna for president!!!
Wait, the krona has lost 2% of its value today, and Icelander is going down too, only ONE aplication by two norweian companies that decided to apply togather, and guess why norway applyed? because if they apply nobody else can get the permission because they have priority(contract) on that area and if there is something there they will explore it whenever they want….wait Eurovison, johanna, sunshine who cares!!!
The sun is shining today and johana is an angel!!!
Long live johanna or shal I say Yohanna she will fix the economy!!!
“we finnish people and you icelandic people have a lot in common living n the “outer circle of Scandinavia”.”
IT IS TRUE… BOTH ICELANDERS AND FINISH HAVE HIGH RATES OF ALCOHOLISM AND SUICIDE…AND THE WORST WEATHER IN THE WHOLE WORLD…
Hello. I’m from Russia and I voted for Iceland. Congratulations for Iceland with second place! I was upset, when has learnt that Russia have given Iceland only three points. I wanted, that she has won, but unfortunately it has not occurred. Her song is very beautiful and romantic.
Congratulations from Germany to this stunning performance ! I cannot believe Yohanna was singing live, not playback. Is it true ? I was assured that it is true. Or did they mix it up with the title :-) Anyway, incredibly perfect voice, incredibly perfect looks, you deserved to win !
Without the East European countries’ support of making and voting the songs, Norway and Iceland had simply no chance at all.
She reminds me of Celine Dion. I think she should be champion, not the 2nd place.
“Interesting and not surprising that Iceland gave NO points to the UK song”
It’s been a common complaint that the points a country awards in the Eurovision contest are usually influenced by politics. I’m not sure if that was the case for Iceland giving no points to the UK though, I suspect like most years we just entered a bad song – I haven’t heard it but that’s usually the case. Like the vast majority of UK inhabitants I don’t take Eurovision seriously and don’t watch it, so getting ‘nil point’ doesn’t have much of an effect.
Interesting and not surprising that Iceland gave NO points to the UK song (also from a beautiful young singer with a great voice, placeing 5th) no doubt due to the residue of bad feelings toward the UK from the economic crisis. But the UK was open minded and rewarded Iceland 8 points. The Nordic countries meted out few points to the UK.
Great song- good to see Iceland doing so well. Any video of her arrival back in iceland?
What a great song. For me it should have won this episode. And that’s true.
I want to send my warmest and outmost congratulations to the lovely Johanna of Iceland and to all icelandic people who can be REALLY proud of this young girl with a voice of an angel!!!
The fact that you icelandic people also gave us in Finland several points will not be forgotten! :) Unlike norwegians who left us without any points and therefore we stayed on the bottom of the list :( Well, I belive that we finnish people and you icelandic people have a lot in common living n the “outer circle of Scandinavia”.
