The magnificent waterfall Goðafoss travels around as a part of the promotion material for Microsoft Windows 7. “This came as a surprise when I saw it” says Hermann Valsson guide and employee of Viking Travel. He saw the picture in an introduction of the product and believes that some 300 to 600 million people will see the picture.
Mr. Valsson says he has no idea of why this picture of the waterfall is used by Microsoft, except that it is a beautiful picture that shows Iceland at its best.

Who cares? And since when is a waterfall considered “Intellectual Property”?
Many Icelanders will see Goðafoss for the first time and will get excited (again, as a time of crises) by the Icelandic nature and the all Icelandic. Not to mention that Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora) is free and fits more to Icelandic situation right now and in the future.
Really, for free, how do I get my free copy?
Long live the penguin.
Does MS pay copyright fees for using Icelandic intellectual property?
300 to 600 millions viewers?…Well at least ALL Icelanders must get W7 for free. :-)
