Norwegian doctors are in Haiti helping victims of the earthquake and the Norwegian Red Cross has set up a hospital near the Port au Prince airport, which has been operating in unbearably hot temperatures with inadequate air conditioning. New air conditioning units are now on site provided by the Icelandic Red Cross.
In addition to the many injured patients being treated at the Norwegian Red Cross hospital, a child was born at the makeshift hospital this week in a welcome break from the tragedy still unfolding daily in Haiti.
The aeroplane sent from Iceland last week to collect the ICE-SAR search and rescue team flew out with emergency equipment and supplies onboard, which included air conditioning units for the Norwegian Red Cross hospital, which were desperately needed, RUV reports.
