The Reykjavik Food and Fun Festival is the perfect culinary travel experience, combining outdoor adventure tours in the breathtaking scenery of Iceland, with the culinary expertise of world-class chefs.
The annual festival taking place between the 24th and 28th of February in Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavik will be celebrating its ninth anniversary. This exciting culinary festival consists of two main segments; a competition, set to take place on the 28th, and the collaboration of visiting international chefs with restaurants in downtown Reykjavik. Each chef attending the festival is assigned to one of the participating downtown restaurants, where they prepare a special menu by solely using fresh Icelandic ingredients.
La Primavera, a contemporary Italian restaurant, which combines influences of North Italian cooking with local, fresh produce is participating in the event. Owner and Chef Leifur Kolbeinsson spends a lot of his time in Italy studying and mastering the techniques and philosophy of the Italian cuisine. The Italian chef Fabrizio Marino of the Michelin Star Restaurant, Sous Chef of Joia, in Milan will be the collaborating with Leifur at La Primavera during the festival.
The Italian restaurants all year round menu and comprehensive Italian wine list supply a simple and surprisingly affordable dining experience. The elegant restaurant always uses the freshest ingredients, and not to mention the best possible fish – or as the world renowned chef and restaurant owner Jamie Oliver once described it, “The most amazing, freshest fish I’ve ever had in my life. It was all so perfectly cooked too. Beautiful.”
