The spin doctor for Denmark’s former tax minister has been reported to the police for allegedly trying to publicise private details of the Prime Minister’s family tax affairs.
Peter Arnfeldt, special advisor to former Tax Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, is accused of offering to leak information on the financial arrangements of Helle Thorning-Schmidt and her family to journalists at the Ekstra Bladet newspaper.
Speaking to Politiken Tax Ministry Press Spokesman Finn Serup said a letter has been sent to Copenhagen Police, stating that Peter Arnfeldt “appears to have attempted to disseminate confidential information”. It then asks investigators to “take the necessary steps”.
Ekstra Bladet says it eventually declined Arnfeldt’s offer after he refused to show them the full text of the confidential documents. Tabloid BT, however, printed a story with the details shortly before the general elections last September.
