A hospital in Stockholm has admitted it was only trying to catch people’s attention when posting an advert for “TV-series hot” nurses.
The vacancy, published on the internet by Stockholm South General Hospital (Södersjukhuset), said applicants must be “motivated, professional, and have a sense of humour”, as well as being “TV-series hot or a Söder hipster”.
The hospital’s management says both the phrases “TV-seriesnygga” and “Söder hipster” were taken directly from the quotes of a satisfied customer who spoke to Dagens Nyheter’s Sunday supplement.
“We’re looking to recruit competent nurses above all, but we wanted to stick out a bit with our advertising campaign, and we managed to do that,” said nursing manager Jörgen Andersson to The Local. “We think that people understand that it was written to catch people’s attention, there’s been no negative feedback,” he added.
“Of course, being good looking is no requirement at all. We put out an ad looking for interest and we got a great response. We want a nurse who is qualified and good at their job, regardless of looks,” Andersson reassured The Local.
The vacant position is for holiday cover over the summer, with the possibility of permanent employment after. There is no requirement to attach a photograph to the CV.
