Aerial images of Iceland shot by Russian photographer Andre Ermolaev have recently received world attention after having been posted via the popular British news website Daily Mail Online; many have described the pictures as being otherworldly.
The photos, which were shot from a Cessna aircraft with an Icelandic pilot at its command, show Icelandic landscapes in an eerie light with a blend of pastel tones. They were posted under the headline “Out-of-this-world nature: Iceland’s landscapes look like alien planets in these amazing aerial photos” on the British news website, and have since been reposted by other popular sites such as the Huffington Post and Trend Hunter.
Ermolaev comments, “the landscapes are so unusual that if you don’t mention at once what they show, people don’t understand what they properly see.”
Andre Ermolaev has flown close to 7000km over Iceland to make the unearthly photo shoot and reveal the country’s beautiful landscapes. “Iceland is close to my spirit”, says the photographer.
