Icelandair, Iceland’s leading airline, is offering travellers the ultimate Iceland holiday experience without the hassle of planning an itinerary.
Icelandair has picked out the most popular activities in Iceland as part of its ultimate Iceland holiday package deal, saving its customers up to 30 percent, compared to booking each tour individually.
After a short flight to Reykjavík and a day to settle in, travellers will be taken on a tour of Reykjavík with a local tour guide on the second day of the holiday. Then, visitors will head out into the countryside to explore the famous Golden Circle route.
During the Golden Circle tour, visitors will get the chance to walk around the world-famous Geysir geothermal area – a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance and geysers explode.
Additionally, tour participants will get to see the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall and then continue on to the rift valley of Þingvellir National Park, where the first Icelandic parliament, Althing, was established.
Day three begins with a whale watching tour along the scenic Faxafloi Bay, where whale sightings are 98 percent guaranteed. The most common sightings are minke and humpback whales, and during the summer months, visitors will have the opportunity to see hundreds of puffins.
Next, visitors will be driven to the Reykjanes peninsula, home to the Blue Lagoon, a beautiful geothermal spa set in the middle of a lava field. Here, visitors can spend several hours at the Blue Lagoon relaxing in the healing waters. Day four is a free day and the perfect time to do some shopping.
The travel period for the ultimate Iceland holiday package deal is between April and May 2013.
