In what appears an unlikely duo, music sensation Björk and renowned broadcaster and naturalist David Attenborough are to work together on a documentary. The Icelandic superstar and one of England’s most famous presenters are to work together on a documentary on the intersection of music, art, technology and the environment.
Entitled Attenborough and Björk: The Nature of Music, the programme will explain the ways in which and the reasons why music has evolved, look at humans’ relationship with it, and investigate how developing technology could transform our future engagement with it.
The documentary will also show the presence of music in nature by showing how animals such as blue whales, the reed warbler and the lyre bird use it in their daily lives.
Those who have studied Björk’s career are unlikely to be surprised that she is working on such a project as she looks at the latest technology as a way of making music intuitive and accessible. She also is passionate about science, as she revealed in her latest work, Biophilia.
The documentary will be shown on Channel 4 in the UK, and is likely to be aired in the US in the near future.
