Danish broadcasting company DR has appointed Kamilla Monies as Head of Production for the Eurovision Song Contest next year. Monies, who with more than 25 years of experience is one of Denmark’s most experienced production chiefs, has been given the responsibility of ensuring the technical production runs smoothly during the three live shows.
Currently the Nordisk Film TV Head of Production, Monies will take a break from her role to concentrate on the Eurovision contest. She has worked on some of the country’s most popular TV shows including Showtime and X-Factor.
While working on X-Factor, she was responsible for producing two of Denmark’s most technically advanced shows ever – the live finals from Copenhagen’s Parken stadium in 2010 and 2011. This was a key factor behind her being chosen for the Eurovision.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 Executive Producer Pernille Gaardbo said she is delighted to be working with Monies. She noted that it is likely to be Denmark’s largest ever technical set-up so to have a production leader with experience is crucial. She added that Monies has already proven in the past that she can handle the biggest events.
Monies will stay on at Nordisk Film TV but will join DR from 1 September until the Eurovision project is complete.
