A man has died in hospital in Stockholm after being stabbed during a fight outside one of the capital’s most popular nightclubs.
The brawl took place on Sunday morning not far from the Sommar club. The man, who was in his 20s, was taken to Karolinska University Hospital, but died shortly after arriving. Police arrested a man in his twenties on suspicion of murder and confiscated a knife at the scene of the fight.
Police spokesman Fredrik Nylen said there was some kind of brawl outside the club, which led to one person being stabbed. One witness described the situation as “insane”, explaining that security guards were desperately trying to save the victim’s life.
Police sources revealed that they understood the trouble started inside Sommar before continuing outside. They declined to answer questions on whether the suspect and the victim knew each other. Nylen said there were several assumptions but that he couldn’t give any details until they had completed questioning those involved.
Police have since questioned a number of witnesses, and they began their forensic examination of the scene and started an investigation on Sunday.
