The police in the south district of Iceland has arrested a man in the town of Vík because of an investigation into an alleged human trafficking case. The district court of the south has ruled that the man should be held custody during the investigation.
The suspect is of Sri Lankan origin and is born in 1975. Due to the investigations sensitive nature the police is not issuing statements at this time but it is known that the suspect allegedly held two women of foreign origin in a forced labor situation. The police in the district of south with aid from the human trafficking team from Reykjavik made the arrest yesterday on February 19th and the man is to be be held until Mars 18th.
