Icelandic runner Aníta Hinriksdóttir came 8th in the 800m finals at the European Athletic Championships 2016 in Amsterdam, she had good speed during the first round but had slowed down a bit during the later round and came in on 2:02:55, that is far from her best. The run that got her into the finals was 2:01,41, more than minute better time than today.
This is a great experience for the young runner, who turned 20 earlier this year, and a good preparation for the upcoming Rio Olympics were she will be participating for Iceland.
Hinriksdóttir comes from Reykjavik based sports club ÍR and is coached by Gunnar Páll Jóakimsson.
