The Icelandic handball team go through to the semi-finals of the EHF European Handball Championships after battling it out with the Norwegian team in Austria this afternoon.
Iceland dominated the game leading all the way until Norway finally took the lead for the first time during the last 10 minutes. However, the Icelandic team showed true sportsmanship and fought it out until the end, providing an exciting and impressive finale to an overall great performance of handball.
The goal difference was marginal with the final score being 35-34 to Iceland. Nevertheless, Iceland now go through to the semi-finals and will be playing again this Saturday in hope of going on to the final which takes place on Sunday.
Ouch, we will play France in the semi-finals.
This will be hard.
My guess is that if we loose against France, then we will win Croatia or Poland in the game for 3 place. Bronze :) In the game against Croatia we were the stronger team. The game went 26:26 i think. And Iceland was over most of the game.
It´s now obvious that the Silver medal in the Olympics in China was no fluke. The team is no one hit wonder. And we have proven that now. We have not lost any game so far.
Got into the semi finals in the 2 large tournament in a row.
Go Iceland !!!
And now we have secured our place in the world champion in handball next year. :D
Go for Gold Iceland and Good Luck!!
Iceland is one of the World best teams in handball.
I hope that in less than 10 years Iceland will have also a football, curling and basket almost sufficient teams.
