Transformers the movie opened in Iceland on August 8th, a long way behind the opening dates in the rest of the world.
The film has had a strong opening in Iceland, coming top of the most-watched films in the country. During the movie’s first week in the cinemas, some 20,000 people bought tickets for the film, amounting to about 15 per cent of the country’s population.
Transformers has showed in 10 cinemas across the country which equates to 80 per cent of all cinemas in Iceland. Advertising for the film is continuing with a full page adverts in local newspapers enticing those who still hadn’t made it to the cinemas to go and buy tickets.
