Eimskip, a transportation and logistics company, recently announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer to its executive team as a result of changes in organisational structure.
Eimskip recently split its North Atlantic division into two, giving Iceland its own divisional status. Gudmundur Davidsson was appointed the new CEO of the Icelandic division while Bragi Thor Marinosson will take the position for the North Atlantic division.
Davidsson’s new job will include the operation and development of the daily workings of the company in Iceland. Marinosson, on the other hand, will be concentrating on business development and expansion in the regions, particularly in Norway and the Faeroe Islands.
Commenting, Baldur Gudnason, CEO of Hf. Eimskipafelag Islands (Eimskip) said, “Eimskip has grown significantly in a short period of time. The turnover of the company has increased by approximately 10 times the last three years. Eimskip currently operates in over 30 countries and employs around 14,500 people, compared with 1,200 people three years ago. These changes emphasise the importance of Eimskip’s operation in Iceland and they will further strengthen the good relationship Eimskip has with its customers.”
This will not be the first senior management position for Davidsson. At Fjarfestingafelagid Grettir, he worked as the Executive Vice President and at Landsbanki he was the director of marketing and business development for the bank´s corporate division. His work in both Iceland and Europe and his experience on the board of numerous companies should be a great asset in his new position.
In the Faeroe Islands, Eimskip has approximately 500 employees, making it one of the largest companies in the area. In Norway, Eimskip provides comprehensive service for seafood transportation and storage.
