Two men have been handed down prison sentences in Finland for dismembering a man they accidentally killed with a cocktail of alcohol and sleeping tablets. Antti Aleksi Kortekangas and Joonas Waaramaa were sentenced to six-year stretches by Tampere District Court on Monday, with Waaramaa also receiving an extra four months on top for breaking the terms of his parole for a previous crime.
The pair were found guilty of violating the sanctity of a grave, aggravated voluntary manslaughter and aggravated battery when they dismembered the man who died after they spiked his coffee with pills and alcohol in June this year. The defendants claimed they only planned to sedate the victim so they could steal his phone, car keys and watch.
Another man was given a 10-month sentence for helping cut up the body, while a woman, who enticed the man to drink the fatal beverage, will serve a five-month suspended term.
