One of the judges presiding over the case of Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik has been pictured playing solitaire in court. The country’s media has published a photograph in which Ernst Henning Eielsen can clearly be seen playing the card game on his computer.
Mr Eielsen has not denied the allegations. A court spokeswoman told AFP, “The judges are attentively following what is being said and what is being presented to the court,” adding that, “There are different ways of staying focused.”
In the meantime, Breivik, who admits killing 77 people in the July 22 dual terror attacks last summer, told the court this week that he had bad experiences with Muslims in his childhood.
The 33-year-old, who is trying to prove to the court that he is sane, says his bicycle was wrecked by the Turkish father of one of his friends when he was seven. He also claims he was slapped by a Pakistani underground driver when he was a teenager.
The right-wing extremist claims he set a bomb in Oslo and went on a shooting rampage at an island youth camp to save Norway and Europe from multiculturalism and Muslim rule. He admits the crimes but denies criminal responsibility.
