Midsomer Murders is set to travel to Denmark to film its 100th episode, which will be a special joint edition created with the producers of popular Danish drama The Killing (Forbrydelsen).
Danish broadcaster DR and the Copenhagen Film Company have teamed up with Bentley Productions, which produces popular UK drama Midsomer Murders, to create a unique episode to mark the show’s 100th edition.
Midsomer Murders Executive Producer Jo Wright said she is a huge fan of Scandinavian crime fiction Nordic Noir and they wanted to come up with something special to mark Midsomer’s 100th episode.
The one-off edition, which is called The Killings at Copenhagen, sees main characters DCI Barnaby and DS Nelson travel to Copenhagen to work alongside their international counterparts when a Midsomer resident is found dead in the Danish capital.
A number of renowned Danish actors and actresses will appear on the show, with the Copenhagen police being played by Birgitt Hjort Sorenson and Ann Eleonora Jorgenson.
According to Copenhagen Capacity’s Ulrik Bolt Jorgensen, the fact that the Danish capital was chosen as the location for the 100th episode highlights the fact that the country’s capital region has plenty to offer. He noted that Midsomer Murders goes out to more than 200 countries and will contribute to raising the profile of the city on an international scale.
