After all the hubbub a month ago about Justin Bieber’s music video for “I’ll Show You,” filmed in Iceland, the Canadian pop star has just announced that he will be returning to Iceland next year to kick off his Purpose World Tour. The first concert of the tour will be held on September 9, 2016, at Kórinn stadium in Kópavogur, near Reykjavík.
While the largest concert in Iceland up to date was Justin Timberlake’s last summer, selling 16,000 tickets, Bieber’s is slated to exceed this record with 19,000 tickets. Timberlake’s concert sold out in 15 minutes as soon as ticket sales were open. Tickets for the Purpose World Tour will be available to the general public on December 19 at 10:00. However, members of the Fan Club will be able to purchase tickets two days in advance, on December 17 at 16:00 and there will be pre-sale tickets available on December 18 at 10:00.
Justin Bieber’s latest album Purpose, after which the tour is named, currently ranks number one in over 100 countries. Seventeen songs on the album have ranked on Billboard’s Hot 100 song list, and the album was downloaded 200 million times on Spotify within the first week of release, setting a new record. Justin Bieber’s concerts have sold out in over 60 countries. The Purpose World Tour will feature more than 30 concerts all over Europe.
