Look there is a considerable amount of TOTALLY INCOMPETENT PEOPLE in the banks system. This morning I checked the landsbanki web page. They were putting the Euro at 174-4 isk, while the ICB and all the other banks were selling and buying it for 180isk. They made a huge mistake. I phoned the bank, the first person who answered said that things were okay. I asked that person to put me in contact with a certain department at landsbanki which takes care of those matters. I talked to them and they just were so thankful. Some HUGE mistake made landsbankin literally loose millions of kronurs this morning between 9.00 am and 10.00 am, because they were selling euros at a much lower rate they were virtually “buying”.
As this happened this morning really, I have lost my total confidence in the icelandic bank system. They seem to have fired all capable and intelligent people at those banks. They are only incompetent people left. THIS IS A REAL DISASTER as it seems that everyone involved in taking care of this nations future is not ready to do it diligently. LETS START PRAYING, this is of course not the right time for elections. But those incompetent politicians and bank personal need to be removed NOW!!.
Maybe I should be at the head of the bank system, as I have started calling them to help them manage what is left correctly. I have made some phone calls lately and help them solve very toff situations. Sometimes I just have spend lots of time trying to explain people at the bank how things are done. Any time I get into the bank I have to explain the people attending me what they need to do. They just don’t even know how things work!! I also have seen how they have been replacing (specially at the attention desk) experienced staff for totally unexperienced young people. They are doing this because they have to pay them much less, but, at what cost?
axel-‘The whole world will be a better place once he is gone, if i would put him on a “list” he would be somewhere between Hitler and Saddam Hussein’– Why do you insult Hitler and Saddam Hussein? At least, they were not cartoon characters and they had a personality. Bush has 24 percent approval rating STILL in USA-that means that millions of USA people STILL think Bush is ‘OK’! I am surprsed his approval rating is above .000000001%—Himself, his parents ,and his brother(governor of Florida that stole the election from Al gore)-The world will rejoice the minute Bush and his sociopathic, maschoist pal, Cheney, crawl into a hole and just go away!—–
I aggree with From Spain and blah bleh
we need to get our ballance first
but i want to fire all 3 central bank managers now
then i would combine the CB and FME into 1 company and hire new people based on skill and not politics
and give them absolute control of the banks,
i want elections in the spring,
there are protests here almost every day now
6000 people protested in front of the parliament building and 500 actacked the police headquarters to free the guy who raised the bonus flag on top of the Parliament building 2 weeks ago
after the protesters broke a window to open the front door and used a battering ram to open the inner doors the police used tear gas to scare people off, then someone anonymus bailed the kid out, my guess is that it was the police them selves
to defuse a very flamable situation
this is just a question of when not if the changes we demand are met, this will only get worse from now on, a handful of people cant ignore a whole nation,
Stan “USA voted him in for a second term in 2004”
actually i think Bush lost in 2004, he somehow managed to crawl into the second term anyway,
The whole world will be a better place once he is gone, if i would put him on a “list” he would be somewhere between Hitler and Saddam Hussein
STAN >>> “knowing what a complete moron he is”
At least we agree with some here. I believe it was in the interest of some people though. And the man did his job. He represented some filfy rich scam organization, which made the world a little poorer.
American woman >>> Like you say, the citizens should fire all their elected officials and restructured their own system. So far Iceland could manage them self. But this last 15 years, politicians got trap in the financial spiral, bringing with them not only capital corruption but influencing “innocent Icelandic farmers” with greediness.
I think, it’s an excellent opportunity to bring balance to the society, and POWER BACK TO THE PEOPLE.
Áfram Island!
”The americans kicked out Bush for doing a bad job”–No, we did not. The jerk was only able to run for 2 terms, thank God!, and that ends January 20th 2009. I am from USA, but I moved overseas, because I despise Bush! Also, I think the world hates USA, in part, because knowing what a complete moron he is, the USA voted him in for a second term in 2004.Just imagine how much misery, and death, that jerk has caused in his 8 years in office! Also, his party, the Republicans, are ‘hands off government’, which allowed his criminal, greedy banker friends to rip the USA off for trillions of USD and this theft spread all over the world. IT IS A SHAME THAT PAPA BUSH, HIS EX CIA DADDY, DID NOT SLEEP THE NIGHT HIS CHIMP SON WAS CONCEIVED!
Icelanders should fire all their elected officials and elect new talented and progressive ones like Obama the best man for the job. The americans kicked out Bush for doing a bad job and Icelandics should do the same to PM Haarde. He is a good for nothing politician and the rest of his cronies.
He’s just trying to do the best as he can, in the know his party is fucked,. Honestly he is correct, to call an election at this time is futile, and will only lead to more turmoil, it’s bad enaugh already. We got to rally and get the biggest obststicles behind us as soon as possible.
I will though agree that elections should be done as soon as calm waters is entered, not untill.

WELL, you have Haarde and we(USA) have Bush, a million times worse leader!
He’s just trying to do the best as he can, in the know his party is fucked,. Honestly he is correct, to call an election at this time is futile, and will only lead to more turmoil, it’s bad enaugh already. We got to rally and get the biggest obststicles behind us as soon as possible.

Best Prime Minister for Iceland NOW, is Haarde.
People forgets good things, happy years, and only remember stormy time; OK, I understand.
If Haarde is not the Prime Minister, Iceland will not be a rich country again.
Perhaps it could be a ridiculous thought but it is a practical idea! And, now, Iceland needs practical ideas.
are you not going to tell us what was said AT the press conference???
I thought Haarde would have left Iceland by now. Does he have no shame?
5.1 bn$ goes for payments of debts.
Ten billion dollars loans promised!
I doubt, if lenders are never going to see any of that money again.
Time to declere Haarde Prime Minister for life!
This would follow the policy Iceland has conducted this far.
