4 star Hotel Nordica in Reykjavik will be known as ‘Hilton Reykjavik Nordica’ from autumn 2007 and will be the first Hilton hotel in Iceland.
An agreement reached at the Hilton Hotel in Dusseldorf on Tuesday between Hilton and Icelandair Hotels brings one of the best known brands in the hotel industry to Iceland. Icelandair Hotels will continue running the hotel but ownership and name will come under the Hilton Hotel Corporation.
Jón Karl Ólafsson, CEO of Icelandair Group, said: “We are committed to the profitable growth of our Icelandair Hotels operation, and this agreement with Hilton is a major step for us in that direction. The Hilton brand gives us access to valuable resources and customers which we intend to utilise to the fullest, for instance in the field of meetings and conferences”.
Nordica Hotel is a flagship 252 room hotel in Reykjavik which boasts 4 star facilities such as the award-winning VOX Restaurant and a luxury spa and fitness complex. Nordica also offers the largest conference space in Iceland which can cater for up to 650 people. It is complimented by two private boardrooms, 11 meeting rooms and a separate conference centre with full business facilities.
